Full spectrum CBD

Keeping this in mind, we present seven factors to be considered before choosing CBD oil for Dogs.

  1. Know what you are looking for – With THC or without THC: Even though most over the counter(without prescription) types of CBD oil are extracted from Hemp, the detail to look for is if they are full spectrum and cold pressed so that they have all the available beneficial compounds in them.
  2. Unlike oil from marijuana which contains a high amount of THC, CBD oil either has a meagre percentage or are devoid of this element. If you are looking for something to start your dog on for very mild conditions and as a supplement rather than a treatment, then Hemp based broad spectrum CBD OIL is the right choice. Look for an oil that contains less than 0.3% THC. Even if you give your dog CBD oil with a lower percentage of THC, rest assured it will be harmless for the dog.
  3. If you are looking at chronic pain management, or pain management for an acute injury / surgery situation, or tumor, cancer, severe arthritis, chronic internal or external inflammation, then you may want to look at cannabis based CBD oil with specific concentrations of THC in it.
  4. This is a prescription based drug. It is still natural and safe. There are various strains of it – such as Sativa and Indica. There are concentrations starting from 1000mg to 4000mg. THC concentrations range from 25% to 75% depending on severity of the medical condition. Your Holistic practitioner should prescribe the right product and guide you on its usage

2. Look for oil with full or broad-spectrum hemp and terpenes: This CBD oil not just contains CBD but also other natural cannabinoids, including CBC (Cannabichromene) and CBG (Cannabigerol).

    • CBC contains:

CBC decreases inflammation of the digestive tract, protects the eyes and nerve cells, and fights cancer cells. It is also suitable for enhancing bladder function. Terpenes on the other hand, are naturally occurring substances found in hemp-like limonene, alpha pinene, and beta-pinene. CBC, CBG, and Terpenes are three elements that bond together as strong opponents against ailments and mental health issues.

3. Make sure the CBD oil has been extracted with CO2: A higher concentration of CBD can be found in CO2, that is touted to be a therapeutic cannabinoid oil for dogs.

4. Analysis Certificate: A certificate of analysis (COA) is furnished by a third-party laboratory, which informs about the CBD product’s type and number of cannabinoids. Few important points to keep in mind while checking the COA:

  • The CBD amount mentioned on the bottle is the same as the certificate shows.
  • CBD is full-spectrum. The bottle does not contain other cannabinoids and terpenes as CBD isolates itself.
  • The THC percentage is just right, neither too less nor more than 0.3%. No presence of THC means the oil is an isolate.
  • Ensure that the certificate is issued by a third-party laboratory. Be aware of the certifications instead of blindly believing the manufacturer.
  • An authentic COA certifies the oil to be free of any contaminants.

5. Cost is not a determinant for quality: Expensive oil does not mean it is the best oil the same way lower cost does not signify inferior quality. Check all the above relevant markers to determine and assure the quality of the oil before buying and using it.

6. Absence of preservatives or chemical additives: Ensure that the oil is devoid of contaminants, preservatives, or additives that could diminish the beneficial properties of the oil itself.

7. Possible side effects: Although side-effects of using CBD oil are negligible, it’s best to be aware beforehand and prudent to consult with the dog’s holistic practitioner or a Canine Holistic wellness Practitioner, before beginning a new diet or medicine on your dog. Those using the oil could find their dog affected by the following conditions (nothing to worry about):

  • Slight lethargy
  • Dry mouth, so your dog could be more thirsty than usual.
  • Increased appetite
  • Might experience nausea
  • Could suffer from lack of agility (low percentage impact).

Choosing the right CBD oil for your dog, along with the correct dosage and administration, is crucial. Consider the afore-mentioned factors when choosing the right Cannabis based CBD oil for your dog’s heal
